Diversity & Inclusion Statement
Our Commitment
At Grind Run Company, we believe that the trails and the roads should be accessible to everyone. We are committed to fostering an environment where every runner—regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, or socioeconomic background—feels not only invited but celebrated. Our goal is to ensure that the starting line reflects the full diversity of our community and that the finish line is a place of belonging for all.
Our Actions
- Accessibility & Representation: We actively welcome a diverse field of participants, volunteers, and spectators. We are working to ensure everyone can see themselves in our events.
- Removing Barriers: We recognize that racing can be cost-prohibitive. We offer a partnership with Northeast Runners Alliance Shared Miles initiative. NeRA is a local non-profit working to increase access for underrepresented groups.
- Inclusive Environments: We offer male, female, and non-binary registration options and equal podium recognition. We accept your declared gender as provided at registration and do not require any further supporting information. We design our race days to be safe and supportive for athletes of every identity.
- Athletes with Disabilities: Athletes must be able to run the course(s) within the time allowed. Tethers and pacers may be used for athletes with visual impairments; leg prosthetics may be used for amputees; we do not offer wheel or push chair divisions at this time.
An Evolving Journey
We acknowledge that DEI work is an ongoing process. We are dedicated to listening, learning, and evolving our practices based on feedback from our participants and the broader community. We don't just want to host races; we want to build a more equitable running culture, one mile at a time.
Land Acknowledgement: We acknowledge that we run in the homeland of the Wabanaki People. We respectfully acknowledge these People of the Dawn–past, present and future–and their connection to these lands and waters. We recognize that we have an obligation to participate in the ongoing care and stewardship of the woods and trails we use in our races and accordingly we donate a portion of our event proceeds to the organizations that undertake this work.
